Craving Color

I love this color combo: red and teal.  So much I designed a table setting around it.

Where in the world is Matt?

Since we are on the subject of Dance…i figured i’d add one more to the mix:  Matt Harding traveled the world and started a tourist dancing-movement. He does the same move over and over and he has absolutely no rhythm.  But it’s still awesome.  14 months in the making, 42 countries, and a cast of thousands.

Bleeding Love (So You Think You Can Dance)

Rachel and I are thinking of learning this routine for fun.  It’s an amazing lyrical hip hop piece.  It’s about a guy going off to work.  I really enjoyed it.  One of my favorite pieces so far this year.  By the way, that girl is from Orem, Utah. Jump to 2 minutes and 45 seconds into it to see the routine.

Let’s see how long this clip lasts on Youtube before Fox asks them to take it down.  Don’t be surprised if it says “no longer available” when you try to play it.

Lavender Days

Tomorrow I will be speaking at the Lavender Days Festival in Mona.  It should be a pretty fun weekend.  Aside from their 120 acres of lavender to walk through and enjoy, Lavender Days has pony rides, paddle boats, professional jousting, live entertainment, food and products from local vendors and educational classes (that’s where I come in).  The title of my class is “Interior Decorating with Mother Nature’s Help.”  It will essentially be a class about bringing the outdoors in this summer with some flower arranging tips and techniques.  I will be talking about which flowers are the easiest and most successful to grow from seed and that will work well in arrangements.  Ya’ll should check it out, it should be fun.  Hope to see you there!

New Price

My beloved mongstad mirror from Ikea has a new price. It has been lowered by $50. It is now only $99. Wahoo! I love this mirror. It’s so versatile with the black/brown color and the horizontal/vertical option.

Best Home Theater…ever.

Just short of a Drive-in.  Beats the heck out of the dungeon basement media room.

The owner of the home is architect Hagy Belzberg, a Harvard graduate (1991) who interned in Frank Gehry’s office.  This home was designed by the entire team of his Santa Monica-based, 13-member Belzberg Architects that the now 43-year-old Hagy Belzberg founded in 1997.

Check out a few more pics of this 5,800-square-foot Skyline residence that overlooks Hollywood and downtown LA.

Picture Perfect Walls

I’m in love with this product/wall accessory because they make my life so much easier. These picture collages come with a template, so there is no more worrying about measuring and trying to get everything lined up. Genius! Here’s how it works:

The set comes with ten frames in a variety of different colors to choose from. You can also arrange them anyway you want. Now you really can pull off that Pottery Barn look. Have fun!

Camalonian Columns

Here’s a new green campaign showing where trees could have been.  Abscence makes the heart grow fonder. From their website:

Camalonian Columns is a woven light weight pavilion inspired by the way plants move and respond to their environment. It was developed during a residency at Kew, The Royal Botanical Gardens, London in spring 2008.

Release your inner-Fashionista

Have you ever been on the search for that perfect dress or top? I have, way too many times. For some reason when I can always imagine exactly what I want, spend hours searching for it, and end up settling for something not-quite what I wanted. Well, ladies, now you can design exactly what you want. From the fabric, to the size, to the style. A new website, Style Shake, enables you to do just that. They claim with three steps: chose fabric, design your garment, and have it ready in 10 business days; you’ll be on your way to a custom garment in less than 2 weeks.

I’ll admit, I wasn’t too impressed when I looked through their gallery; but then realized that these are the creations of other people. People with an 80’s, retro style. So I can’t quite judge. My other concern is picking out fabrics online. Scary!!! Once I get the courage to design my own, I’ll have to let ya’ll know how it goes.

Nice New Products

I’ve finally been able to get out and buy a few new things.  To some it might not be too exciting but for me, I’m loving my new toys.

This was a complete impulse buy.  I saw these at the store and thought the were so clever and innovative.  I’m one that cannot seem to cut a straight line worth anything.  So these scissors seem perfect.

This wasn’t so much an impulse buy, but I’m super excited to have.  Ta Da!

My new Oreck.  It was about time I toss out my ghetto $50 Dirt Devil and trade it in for something 1000 times better.  While the design of this vacuum is nothing  fancy,  the power is amazing.  Maybe that’s why I love Orecks so much…they’re simple and the do the job.  Well worth the investment.  I think I’ve vacuumed three times since I’ve gotten it.

Queen Mary Cruise Line

I thought I’d highlight one of the most luxurious cruise lines out there. I’ve never been on a Queen Mary, but I’ve heard amazing things. One thing that I like about the interiors is that they’re not obnoxiously designed like some other cruise lines. I don’t want to bash on other cruise lines…I’m actually a huge fan of cruises and love the fact that I can travel to many different places while still staying in the same hotel room. However, I feel like some get a little too cheesy with their bright colors.

Again, I love these bedroom suites because the neutral colors automatically draw your eye to the focal point of the room: the big, beautiful view of the bright blue ocean. Breathtaking. Here are some of the accommodation and what they include:

The Grand Duplexes

Downstairs offers an expansive living room, oversized balcony and a marble bathroom with shower. Upstairs, the bedroom includes a separate marble bathroom with whirlpool bath, bidet and seaview window. Approximately 2,249 square feet (including balcony)

The Holyrood Suite

Holyrood Suites offer an expansive living room with upstairs bedroom, oversized balcony, two marble baths with separate whirlpool baths and showers. Approximately 1,194 square feet.
