William Holland
I don’t care if they’re uncomfortable, I’m in love with these copper saoking tubs. William Holland does soem fabulous work. I’d design an entire room around these.

The kitchen: it has become the center of our home. Somehow everyone congregates to the kitchen; it’s important to keep it updated. Keep these ideas in mind.
White cabinets. My mother had white cabinets for years, she’ll never get them again. Yes, they can be very impractical for little kids. But I say just wipe them off (is if obvious i’m not a mom yet?).
In addition to these stark white cabinets, white cabinets with a darker glaze are also popular. It’s a little hard to tell in this lower picture, but these have a slight glaze on them. Another new thing that is show in this picture is the use of drawers. Drawers are becoming more used, as opposed the cabinets with the pull-out shelf.
I think we are all aware at how innovative new cabinetry storage has gotten. There are some cool features.
Open shelving. This is huge. I don’t think I’d ever personally put this in my home (and I have yet to put it in a client’s). I’m not that organized. But they do look great.
Another big thing with kitchen cabinets is the look of furniture. In this picture the island, china hutch, and range all look like individual pieces. I love this look.

And lastly, another piece of furniture being used in kitchens is the sofa. The industry has pretty much glamified the table bench. I love the look of a sofa around the kitchen table. It just so inviting, and welcoming. I feel like I can sit around for hours eating and laughing with friends.
Sometimes our love is like this:
Here’s the cute little poem that goes with it:

send me e-mails,
I’ll type you songs ;)
Couldn’t tell you a thing that’s said on this French blog, but it sure is fun to look at the pictures. This lady documents her work throughout her projects. I think upholsterers don’t get enough credit for their work. They are truly great artists.
I’m going up to Park City a lot these days. So I need a good, durable, warm set of boots. MoovCulture boots look like galoshes on the outside, have the warmth of Uggs (which get way too soggy) on the inside. I wonder if I can convince Mick that these are a need.
We’ve heard back from Nicholas on Sleeping Under the Stars.
He told us it’s in a private area in Greece, on Milos Island. Wouldn’t we all like to be there now?
While we’re on the subject of Nicholas Matheus’s photography, I thought I’d highlight some more interior pictures. He’s amazing.
Oooh LaLa! Eye candy is true. I salivate over these pictures for two reasons: the yummy treats, and the beautiful displays. Nice work Amy Atlas.
Rachel is definitely the main blogger here at Elegance. But every once in awhile i’ll chip in a few posts here and there. I’m streaky…i’ll pump out a bunch in a row and then i’ll take a little break. I blog more at my personal blog. Anyway…here are a few images for the day. I have a ton of stuff ’starred’ in my google reader that I need to get rid of.
Ya’ll excited for the Holiday’s? These hand-tinseled wooden plaques are the perfect thing to get you in the mood.
Aren’t they adorable? The vintage plaques come in three different sizes, and are great for gift giving. Check out their Etsy site here.
While I’m on a Hair and Makeup kick, I thought I’d highlight some of Enizio’s work. They’ve done everything from weddings, to fashion shows, to films, and even some familiar voices on the radio. Here are some of my favorites. If you need any on-site hair and make-up, I highly recommend them. And despite what you’d think about high prices, their prices are extremely reasonable.

Okay, I guess this is a little more than “some,” but their work is great and I couldn’t decide. Hope you enjoyed.
Two good things are coming together tonight: great dress deals and great hair deals. If ya’ll haven’t been to Sudio Enizio, you’re missing out.
The salon is beautiful: crisp baby blue walls, high gloss black floors, elegant chandeliers, subway-tiled walls in the bathroom, Italian leather wash chairs. Again, this place is beautiful.
On top of the great design in the salon, the girls at Studio Enizio do a fabulous job with hair and makeup. Take my word for it. Anyway, back to the point of this post…tonight they are hosting a trunk show of Shabby Apple’s dresses. It’s from 7-10 tonight and Enizio’s address is:
3300 N. Running Creek Way (1200 East) Building A
Lehi UT 84043
Tonight you can enjoy good shopping, munchies, and great deals on some of Enizio’s services. Hope to see you there!!
Continuing our discussion from two weeks ago with silk… Last time I talked about the sericulture (harvesting silk in a controlled environment) of silk worms. There is a more humane way of getting silk, known as “wild silks” or “peace silks.” This type of silk cocoon is gathered from the Bombyx mori silkworm that actually lives it’s full life (as opposed to the other silk worms that are boiled before they emerge from their cocoons). There are several different kinds of silks (Dupion, Shantung, Tassar…) and ways to obtain silk, but they all have the same characteristics.
I think we all know how beautiful silk is, and how it’s known for it’s lustrous and elegant finish. It is very soft, fine, and one of the best fabrics for draping. Silk is also extremely tenacious (strong), and won’t be pulled apart easily.
HOWEVER, silk does not wash well at all, and stands up poorly to any abrasion-not good for upholstery or even highly used bed covers. When using silk for window treatments you must make sure you have good lining because silk is weakened by sunlight. And, of course, silk is extremely expensive. It takes about 100 silk worms to make one silk tie. I’ll let you do the calculations for the ratio for a simple window treatment.
Besides the fact that it’s our anniversary, it’s also Veterans Day. I’m thankful for all those who have served and are serving. Our country’s great.
We’ve been married for two years. I still consider us newlyweds. Marriage is absolute bliss.
Yesterday when I wrote to Mother Nature I was happy. Now I’m sad. Okay, not really. Rain every once in a while is good. Here are some fun umbrella prints to cheer up any rainy-day blues.

Your colors this time of year a truly inspiring. I’m a big fan, thanks again Mother Nature.
Going green is huge in the home building industry. There are several ways we could “go green.” Jessica Alba’s home featured in InStyle Magazine has some great tips.
Here Jessica’s designer brought her some old, vintage chandeliers. Reusing furniture (and/or getting it reupholstered) is a great way to save on resources.
Hardwood flooring is a great alternative. to carpet. Yeah, I know expensive. But unless you go with wool carpeting (still really expensive), all other carpeting is unsustainable.
Instead of natural grass they used turf. I’m still deciding if I like this. There’s just something about rolling around in grass and the smell of fresh cut grass… Like most economically friendly things, the upkeep is really low. Can you imagine never cutting the grass?
