Dog Prints

by Rachel Hagen on December 17th, 2010

Aren’t these dog prints so fun?! I think they’d be great as over sized art.  There’s something so enchanting about being able to see the strength in horses. Similar to the horse prints that are so popular right now.

Fade-out Chair

by Rachel Hagen on December 15th, 2010

Remember when this blog used to be a design blog?  Then I had a baby and had (still) have an identity crisis with who I was, and what this blog should be.  If you’ve come for design inspiration, you’ve probably gotten incredibly bored once this blog got Samified.  Now that I’ve started design work again, I thought I’d post some cool things I come across.

Like this slick Fade-out chair.  Yes, it’s impossible to make a chair float; but Japanese artist Nendo has given the illusion of a floating chair.  Quite cool.

Look alike

by Rachel Hagen on December 13th, 2010

Does Sam look like a certain someone?  Perhaps from your favorite Pixar movie?

Upon closer examination, there’s no doubt Sam could win a look alike contest if posed as Carl from UP–everyone’s favorite grumpy old man.  Luckily mine is a happy baby boy.

Lately…

by Rachel Hagen on December 10th, 2010

Lately we’ve been doing some very exciting things.  And our trusty camera phone  seems to capture everything.

Like go to the grocery store and get meats at the deli:

Sing Christmas Carols. Let it Snow seems to be a favorite of Sam’s.  This is one of mine.

We had a bit of a pink eye scare.  I guess Sam’s eyes just get a little swollen when he fights a cold, and for some reason my eyes have been reacting weird to my eyeliner.  I haven’t changed makeup since high school, and now they act up?! Perhaps it’s time for a change.  I should get these girls to help out.

While fighting a cold, Sam got really cuddly {heaven} and had to be touching my face whenever I carried him.  It was the sweetest thing. {No make up and red, itchy eyes}

Mick has been working a lot, so we thought we’d cheer him up at the office.  Here is Sam hanging out with the Zinch China mascot.

Hung out with Holland while I had a work meeting.  These two get along so well. :)

We practice our manners and hand skills.  Holding an eating utensil in one hand, with a napkin in the other.  High class, I know.

Aaaaand then throw the food everywhere.

As you can see, we live very exotic and exciting lives around here.

Floor Time

by Rachel Hagen on December 6th, 2010

There are some things that are a serious matter around here.  Like playing with blocks on the floor.  Don’t mess.

I know.  And to be honest, it’s kind of been nice taking a little sabbatical from the www.  Where do I start?

Well, first off there was Halloween.  And we had the scariest skeleton on the block…

Then we spent about ten days in Utah finishing up a design project.  Hopefully all the loose ends will be finished by the time I’m out there for Christmas and I can post some pics.  Until then, just imagine matching little girl twin beds with beautiful canopies, the hippest teen room, gorgeous Romo wallpaper, surf boards as wall art, and a giant mural over a bed.  It was a fun, fast-paced project.  So fun and fast paced that I’ve been recuperating and catching up on life since.  I’ve slowed down with the projects and I’ve been able to spend some good q-time with my little Sammy.  Oh I love that boy.

We were able to spend a week in Arizona with my family.  It was another fast-paced week (my sisters wear me out, in a good way); but it was a much needed trip.  Everyone except one sister was there, and the house was full of mischievous grandkids and fattening foods.  We ended up having two turkey dinners.  One small (does a family of twenty count as small?!), intimate dinner with my immediate family, and a bigger one with all my cousins.  I live for my mother’s dressing.  It’s the best in the entire world, an it’s not thanksgiving without her dressing.  Or my sister’s candied, coconut yams.  Or my other sister’s pretzel jello salad.  Or my brother’s creamy mashed potatoes.  And, I must say, I do make a mean green bean dish.  It’s not that gross, creamy stuff with the fake onions on top.  Trust me, it’s good.  Hopefully I’ll be better updating.  And hopefully this inspires some of my friends and family to update their blogs (ahem Tara, Carli, Elizabeth, and Jaclyn) so I can see pics of their exciting lives.

Obligatory Thanksgiving Family Picture

Sam doing what he LOVES to do: stare at his hands and fingers.  The novelty never wears off.

Looking all dapper in his fall attire.  He needs to stop growing up.  Right. Now.
