Sam and I just so happened to be matching one day. I don’t know who dresses this kid, but he somehow seems to wear a lot of blue (highlighting his pretty eyes), and occasionally will match me. What can I say? He loves his Momma…

…You make lemonade!
Pixi thinks she owns the place:
I Love how curious Sam is these days, everything is so exciting and new. Being a mom, I’ve really learned to see the world through a baby’s eyes. There really is beauty in the simplest things.
Our plants that I thought were gonners, are starting to come to life again. Leaves are budding and flowers are blooming. Spring really is such a great example of rebirth and renewal.

This year Easter means so much to me. I’m so thankful for my Savior and for His Atonement. Because of him, we too can be resurrected with our families and loved ones. Gosh, I love family and the happiness loving someone brings.
As for the secular part of Easter, we were pretty low-key. What do you get an 11 month old?! Why, his favorites of course: books, bubbles and RITZ. This kid is going to float away with how much salt and butter he’s consuming from RITZ. {Hey, at least I can change his diaper and drive the car without him screaming his head off…}
Sam looking so angelic:
If you didn’t notice, Sam has a temporary new addition to his face. Poor little guy got his first of may booboos. It’s a pretty good combination of bruise and scratch around his eye. He was playing on our outdoor table (he’s in the crawling stage, so we’re hardly ever out there) and banged his head up against it. As parents we think it’s the end of the world. The tough little kid just needed to sleep it off. Judging from these pictures you can already tell who the comforter is…
Luckily his pretty blue eyes weren’t damaged. :)
Sunday afternoon we had a delicious dinner with Mick’s friend and coworker. Eric, Lily and their son Arthur are so sweet. As we were leaving, Arthur gave Sam a ball to his “brother.” So tender. I first met Eric while in Bejing, and their family has made the big move out here to be closer to the SF Zinch office. Oh I love me some good Chinese food. Sam LOVED the Tofu. I should probably learn some recipes…
Two dozen food trucks in a circle with a band and bar in the middle. Our kind of party! (Minus the bar of course) Oh there were a lot of choices, and there were a lot of people. Unfortunately our *very* empty stomachs didn’t have the patience to wait in the exceptionally long lines–which we can only assume were the best choices. Nonetheless, we had a delectable dinner and sampled a variety of foods: Korean, Vietnamese, Argentine, and Venezuelan.
Sam was looking for his broom and cauldron…
Hot.
My husband. Not my son.
I can’t get over how gorgeous our wisteria is right now. It’s in full bloom! I was having lemonade out with a girlfriend and thought it looked so picture perfect…
It really feels like you’re in a sea of beautiful purple blossoms. I love it.
Ever wonder what Sam and Pixi were looking at in this picture? A certain someone has decided to build their nest in our backyard! I’m sure it’s really sweet, but to be honest that bird kind of freaks me out. I know it’s alive because somehow it changes positions according to where I am in the yard. I never see it move, it just hovers over me like some protective mother. I feel like that bird is going to attack any second. Since it’s so still, Pixi doesn’t notice it anymore (only when she was building her nest). And luckily its home is high so when the eggs (I’m assuming/hoping there are eggs in that nest) hatch Pixi won’t attack them. Yeah for Spring!! {although last night I had to cover my impatiens to protect them frost a frost} Regardless, yeah for Spring!!
I don’t know when I’ll learn my lesson: my side of the city is warm and pleasant. The ocean side is cold and windy. Whenever I plan on going to the other side of the city I think to myself, “oh it’s a beautiful day!” And then it’s always cold. It was a beautiful day, but it was crazy windy. Sam wasn’t enjoying himself much; luckily admission to the zoo was free. Of the three animals we saw, the zebras and penguins were his favorite. I’ve learned I’ve got a thing for penguins. They’re so cute!! I wouldn’t mind having one waddling throughout my home one day.
Lesson Learned: skirts on windy days aren’t a good idea.
Once a semester Mick takes a day trip to Princeton to speak about entrepreneurship to the students. Every time he goes I hope he gets the scholastic bug and want to go back to school and finish… so far it hasn’t happened.
I LOVE Princeton, NJ. It’s such a charming town. I love the downtown with their high end stores (we went ring shopping there while dating/engaged and quickly realized Provo, UT would have better deals:)), I love the restaurants with students eating and scheming together, I love the Princeton campus with the gorgeous Gothic architecture and big, beautiful trees. The entire town just feels smart. I definitely did not fit in.
Anyone who knows me knows I’ve had a hard time with Mick not finishing school (yet). Yes, he is doing great and amazing things…luckily he’s not a dead beat. He’s an incredibly hard worker and is constantly wanting to learn more and educate himself in the non traditional ways. But isn’t there something to be said about having the opportunity to go to an ivy league and finish? Something I wrestle with quiet often.
Meanwhile, here on the other side of the country Sam and I have had an enjoyable day running design errands and having lunch.
The bread sticks weren’t bad either…
What is it about a lovey that brings so much comfort for babies?
We try and keep Sam’s blanket in his crib, but when it’s a hard day (teething), it’ll come out and be carried/swept throughout the house. I think it’s fine for him to like something to cuddle with. And having something constant when we travel is nice. But I really don’t want him to get too attached and become that kid. And suggestions on how to balance the lovey?
It’s never a good sign when the little guy is quiet. Sam has discovered opening drawers and closing doors. Both devices perfect to get any little fingers smashed. Is it wrong for me to let Sam pull out every single piece of clothing? It gives me time to get ready, and I actually think it’s kind of cute (for now).
Now go in the corner and think about your actions…
Just don’t look so darn cute while doing it.
