Double Take

by Rachel Hagen on April 13th, 2010

We are all lovers of Target.  Their ingenious way of making high-end trends for the everyday person has proven to be very successful.   Recruiting such designers as Liberty of London, Isaac Mizrahi, and Orla Kiely has definitely set them apart.  In my home designs I do both high end as well as budget friendly.  So as I’ve been shopping I’ve noticed something interesting with a few of Target’s designs.

While not identical I think this wall covering by Romo looks very similar to Target’s.  Romo vs Target:

Or these tw0…Romo vs Target:

These fabrics look almost identical.  Target doesn’t advertise that they’re Thomas Paul designs, so I wonder if they’re *ahem* designed by anyone else.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m quite busy these days.  My nights of looking at inspiring photos and new products have turned into emailing. :) So I thought I’d share just a few furniture pieces we’re brewing up.  Red Fox Furnishings did an awesome job putting together these collages of the furniture pieces and their altered dimensions with the chosen fabrics. They rock.

We are going for earth tones in this room: greens, oranges, browns, soft yellows.  Ooh it’s going to be so warm and cozy I can’t wait!

I don’t know how I feel about this.  I mean, I know it’s “green” and green.  But wouldn’t you get bad grass stains?

Helen Amy Murray

by Rachel Hagen on September 10th, 2008

Artist and designer Helen Amy Murray does amazing work with different materials. Enjoy.

Some details of her leather work.

This wall design was for a private commission she did in London. The material is a wool and cashmere. I adore this.

And another fun chair of hers…

These two designers seemed to have spilled their paint buckets. I think it’s pretty cool. The first picture is designed by Corina Zuberbühler of potsfossil. The other pictures are from designer Anna ter Haar.

Here’s the making. It’s pretty long, but interesting.

Do I sip from it or sit on it? You decide. Rainer Spehl has come up with some cool seating. The quoffe cup is a piece that can be used for seating, storage, and kid enjoyment.

Cool Design. With the use of silk and upholstery, Josh Urso designs a line that produces mesmerizing and enchanting furniture, wall panels, lights, and accessories. Once the material is treated, it becomes rigid and formed into these amazing pieces. The chair has no support underneath–it’s completely see-through. I think he has it right on when he says, “Confuse, amaze, and entertain your guests.” Shown here are his Spector Chair, bowl, and Puff Light Pendant.
